Privacy policy

Last updated 11 September 2026.

Draft, pending legal review. This document has been prepared as a starting point and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Do not rely on it until this notice is removed.

This policy explains how Sarastar (we, us) handles personal information collected through the Tagview website (the website) and the Tagview platform, including the tagboard hardware and the cloud service (the platform). We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Two roles: website visitors and platform users

When you visit the website or send us an enquiry, we collect and hold your information as the responsible organisation. When a mine operator or other customer (the operator) uses the platform to record its own personnel, the operator decides what is collected and why; we process that information on the operator’s behalf under our agreement with them. Questions about how an operator uses your information should go to the operator first.

2. What we collect

Through the website

  • Details you give us in the contact form: name, work email, phone, company, role, and what you tell us about your operation.
  • Technical information sent by your browser: IP address, browser type and pages visited, used for security and to keep the site working.

Through the platform, on behalf of operators

  • Personnel records entered by the operator: name, position, employee ID, company, photo, and emergency contact.
  • RFID tag assignments and tag-on and tag-off events, including which tagboard, which site and when.
  • Skills, tickets, licences and inductions with issue and expiry dates, where the operator records them.
  • User accounts for operator staff: name, email, role and site access.
  • Tagboard device health data: online status, firmware version and Wi-Fi signal strength.

We do not track a person’s location beyond the tagboard they tagged on or off at.

3. Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry and, if you become a customer, to set up and support your account.
  • To operate the platform for operators: showing who is on site, raising flags and alerts, and producing history and reports.
  • To keep the website and platform secure, and to diagnose faults.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the website and platform, under contracts that restrict how they may use it:

  • Cloud hosting and database providers.
  • Email and SMS delivery providers, for alerts and notifications.
  • Payment processing providers, for subscription billing. We do not store card numbers.

Some of these providers store information outside Australia. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to follow up and for a reasonable period afterwards. Platform data is kept for the retention period set by the operator, which defaults to 365 days for event history, and is deleted or de-identified when the operator’s account is closed, subject to any legal requirement to retain it.

6. Security

Access to the platform is controlled by user accounts, roles and per-site permissions. Tagboards authenticate with per-device credentials that are never displayed after enrolment. Data is encrypted in transit. Administrative actions are logged.

7. Access and correction

You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. If the information is held on behalf of an operator, we will refer your request to the operator or help them respond. Contact us at support@sarastar.com.au.

8. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at support@sarastar.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be notified to operators through the platform.
